The surrounding community has done so much for us by providing many resources such as schools, playgrounds, libraries, and many learning opportunities. But not all kids have the same opportunities. We wanted to give back to the community by doing things such as volunteering at R.A.F.T. (Resource Area for Teaching), supporting the FLL Community, and hosting events to create robotics awareness. For example, we volunteered at a library and showed kids how our robot works
R.A.F.T. stands for Resource Area For Teaching. R.A.F.T. is a store that offers discounted teacher and homeschool school supplies. In the store, we as a team helped around by making educational goods and transported them around the facility. We learned many different things at the facility such as being able to use different types of machines like wood machines that helped pick up wood stacks.
With 2 years of FLL competition participation under our belt, we shared our knowledge and the strategies to win an FLL competition. We helped the teams known as RoBosses, EliteGirls, and PowerGirls and all of them qualified for the next level during this season. Lastly, we donated all of our FLL equipment robots, and parts to local community teams.
We hosted a robotics workshop at a local library of ours with many different goals. At our workshop, we did many things such as teaching children about robotics, explaining what the functions of our robots are and how they work, getting them to understand and grasp the idea of how the parts of the robots move, teaching them the names of the robot parts, and we inspired them to do robotics by joining/creating a FLL/FTC team in the future by teaching them the basics of the First CORE values.
